Domains

All local mail domains must be entered in the Domains section. These local mail domains are used for the purposes of applying archive rules and filtering data in the search results. For example, if your email address is joe@company.com, enter "company.com" as one of your localmail domains. It is not necessary to enter internal domains, such as smallbusiness.local.

Note: If you fail to add all local mail domains, results associated with the missing domains will not be shown in the search results.

Verifying Domain Ownership

Note: Verifying domain ownership is not required for MailArchiva On Premise, however is needed for MailArchiva Cloud and ISP Edition users.

For security reasons, MailArchiva will not receive emails from a domain created in MailArchiva Cloud or ISP Edition until the domain has been verified. To verify domain ownership, first add the desired set of domains in Configuration->Domains (as indicated above), Click Save. a TXT Record will be shown.

There are three choices to verify domain ownership; they are:

  • Add a TXT record - Add a TXT record to your domain's DNS entry.
  • Upload an HTML file - Upload an HTML file to the website associated with the domain.
  • Contact Support - Contact the support and request them manually verify your domains.

Add a TXT Record

  1. Sign in to your ISP account hosting your domain.
  2. Locate the DNS Zone Editor or page for updating your domain's DNS records.
  3. Locate the TXT records for your domain. You may already have one or more records resembling:

Name / Host / Alias Time to Live (TTL) Record Type Value / Answer / Destination
    Blank or @ 86400 TXT v=spf1 ip4:123.123.123.123 ~all
  4. Add a TXT record with the following values:

Name / Host / Alias Time to Live (TTL) Record Type Value / Answer / Destination
    Blank or @ 86400 TXT

Enter the TXT Record value displayed in the Domains section of MailArchiva Console.

    e.g. archiva-site-verification=archiva2R6a7o8GNVgUG1zxjD1cPYTh4PIQKdf05vGXnDRuM3M

  5. Save your changes and wait until they take effect.
  6. Wait an hour or two for DNS to propagate. Refresh the Configuration->Domains page to verify whether a domain is verified.

Upload an HTML file

  1. Create an html file on the web server pointed by your domain with the same name as the TXT record (after the equals). For example, archiva2R6a7o8GNVgUG1zxjD1cPYTh4PIQKdf05vGXnDRuM3M.html (see image above). The accessible path should be the euivalent of http://www.yourdomain.com/archiva2R6a7o8GNVgUG1zxjD1cPYTh4PIQKdf05vGXnDRuM3M.html.
  2. The  contents of the file must contain the full txt record (shown in Configuration->Domains). For example,
    archiva-site-verification=archiva2R6a7o8GNVgUG1zxjD1cPYTh4PIQKdf05vGXnDRuM3M
  3. Wait 5 minutes for the domain to be verified. Refresh the Configuration->Domains page to verify whether a domain is verified.
