Smartermail
MailArchiva can be configured to journal messages from the Smartermail Professional Edition mail server.
The free version of Smartermail does not support journaling at this time.
Smartermail does not currently provide a method of exporting old emails from its database.
The instructions for setting up journaling in Smartermail is outlined below. The general idea is to first create a journal mailbox. This mailbox will be used as a temporary storage location for copied emails. Thereafter, instruct Smartermail to send copies of both sent and received emails to the journal mailbox.
- Login to the Smartermail web console
- Create a new mailbox called "journal"
- Click the Events main menu on the left
- Click New Event
- In Event Name, type "receive journalling"
- Select Event Category "Email"
- Select Event Type "Message Received"
- Check To Address, Select "Not Equals", then enter ZZZZZZ
- Click Actions menu at the top
- Click Add Action
- Enter "journaling" in Action name
- Select "Add Recipient" as action
- In Recipient field, enter "journal@domain.local" (where domain.local is your domain name)
- Click Save, then Save Event
- Click New Event
- In Event Name, type "sent journalling"
- Select Event Category "Email"
- Select Event Type "Message Sent"
- Check To Address, Select "Not Equals", then enter ZZZZZZ
- Click Actions menu at the top
- Click Add Action
- Enter "journaling" in Action name
- Select "Add Recipient" as action
- In Recipient field, enter "journal@domain.local" (where domain.local is your domain name)
- Click Save, then Save Event
- Login to the MailArchiva console
- In Configuration->Journal Accounts, click "New Journal Account"
- In Protocol, select IMAP
- In Server, enter Smartermail IP address
- In username, enter "journal"
- In password, enter journal mailbox password
- Ensure that "Listen for message arrival notifications from server (IMAP Idle)" is unchecked. (Smartermail does not support IMAP Idle)
- Save and Test Connection
